Blog

On my blog you can find a constant stream of editorial, commercial, and lifestyle photography that I have recently created for Michigan companies.

My job as an editorial photographer is rooted primarily in capturing people. Occasionally the focus is an event, physical structure, product, or idea, but 95% of the time there is one or more people in front of my lens. During the current pandemic, precautions have lead to a significant drop in the frequency that I am working. With that extra time, I have been producing educational content for photographers across social media. Here’s a recent image from a video for my photography YouTube channel. I wanted to share the stages of post-processing.

From left to right, the images show:
1: Raw / Straight out of camera
2: Dodge and Burn / Frequency Separation
3: Saturation adjustments
4: Micro Dodge and Burn / Fly away removal
5: Eye adjustments
6: Local color adjustments (adding warmth to shadows)
7: Local contrast adjustments (increasing specularity and deep shadows)
8: Final Sharpening
